Reception Refurbishment

Work starts on Thursday 20th April to make accessibility improvements to reception and the waiting area. GP and nurse clinics will run as usual but for safety reasons the main entrance will be closed and access to the building will be via the rear fire exit. As a temporary measure, the Small Treatment Room will serve as Reception and the Physiotherapy Room will be our waiting area. We aim to have the main entrance open again on Monday 24th April.

Temporary Practice Closure

Bampton and Clare House surgeries will both be closed from 1pm on Friday 21st April to allow for all clinical and administrative data to be transferred onto the same system. This will involve significant work over the weekend and we aim to resume normal service on Monday 24th April.

Practice Merger

Bampton Surgery and Clare House Surgery, Tiverton merge on 1 April 2017 to form Amicus Health.

Marilyn Campbell retires on Friday 31st March after working for 14 years at Bampton Surgery. She has been a very loyal and hardworking member of the team and will be greatly missed by patients and staff.
We wish her a very happy and active retirement doing all the things she loves - gardening, cycling, bodyboarding and enjoying her first grandchild due May 2017.

Publication of GP Net Earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean net earnings (eg. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice. This is required in the interests of the greater public accountability recognising GP pay is ultimately funded from tax paid by the public.
The average pay for GPs working in Bampton Surgery in the last financial year (2015/16) was £64,121 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs and 2 part time GPs (who worked in the practice for more than six months.)

CQC Inspection

Following an inspection of this practice by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on 19th November 2015, we are pleased to have been rated as good with some outstanding features. Their detailed report highlights a large number of excellent services provided by staff who work extremely hard and who deserve to be congratulated. The challenge continues to be providing the highest standard of care for our patients in a climate of reduced funding for GP services.

Dementia Support Group

Following on from a successful 14-week Cognitive Stimulation Therapy course for patients with mild to moderate dementia, we are pleased that the group continues to meet every Tuesday at St. Michael's Community Hall.
The aim is to provide a stimulating programme of activities for patients coping with memory loss. GPs refer patients who they feel will most benefit and Gill Dunne leads the group in a friendly and supportive setting. After an informal introduction, the group chat about current news stories and take part in a themed activity.
All funds raised from the sale of secondhand books go towards this worthwhile cause.
If you would like to know more, or get involved, please speak to Lisa Booth at the surgery.

Named Accountable GP

It is a requirement for practices to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients including children. The named accountable GP is responsible for a patient's overall care and if you are uncertain as to who this is, please ask one of the reception team. If you would prefer to be assigned to a different GP, we will try to accommodate your request. New patients will be informed of their named accountable GP at registration. This will not affect your ability to book an appointment with any of the GPs at Bampton Surgery.

Online Services

Online services give patients the option to book and cancel appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view their electronic medical record online.
If you are aged over 16 years and have been registered with the practice for more than three months, you can request online access to your detailed coded record.

For further information, speak to one of the Reception team.
